Chapter 379 - 378: Come With Me
Aunt Sienna seemed a bit anxious; she knew her own health issues and if they went to the hospital for a check-up, she doubted she’d be able to come back.
But she couldn’t make it too obvious, or Bella would definitely get suspicious.
"Alright, a check-up might be good," Aunt Sienna nodded, "But it’s too cold now, I don’t feel like moving. Let’s wait until it warms up a bit, we’ll go next time you come back when you’re on leave, okay? It’s inconvenient with all these layers."
Seeing her insistence, Bella had to nod, fearing any more words might upset her, "Alright, we’ll settle it this time. Next time I’m back on leave, we’ll go for the hospital check-up; it can’t be delayed anymore."
"Okay, okay, I’ll do as you say," Aunt Sienna laughed, "I can’t tell who the adult is here and who’s the child."
"Big kid, little kid, aren’t you just being a kid now?" Bella laughed too, casually asking the little one beside them, "Ethan, do you think Bella is right?"
"Yeah, yeah, I’m a kid, Aunt Sienna is a kid too," Ethan nodded, pointing to himself then to Aunt Sienna, his serious little expression was endearing.
Aunt Sienna chuckled, "Ethan, speak a little quieter, your Uncle Sinclair is still sleeping."
"Ah!" Ethan immediately covered his mouth.
Bella and Aunt Sienna were amused by his reaction.
The sunlight was just right, surrounded by the closest people, even the simplest tasks felt profoundly heartwarming.
That night, Bella and Damian stayed at the welfare home.
The next morning, after breakfast, they drove off.
In the car, Bella said, "Damian, are you not going to the office today?"
"I am," Damian replied, "Do you want to go with me?"
"Huh?" Bella paused, "Wouldn’t it be awkward for me to go to your office?"
The last time she went to the company was because she needed a favor from him, but this time around, for some reason, she felt like a family member showing up unannounced.
Thinking about this made Bella feel embarrassed.
"It won’t be. If you feel uncomfortable, you can read, browse the web, or nap in my office," Damian said.
Bella thought for a moment, then shook her head, "Better not, I’ll ask Bella out for shopping instead."
"Up to you," Damian knew she’d be bored sitting around while he worked, so he didn’t press her, just took a card out from his wallet and handed it to her.
"What’s this for?" Bella looked at the bank card.
"Buy what you like," Damian said casually.
"No, thanks," Bella refused, "I have my own money."
Damian sighed, glancing at her sideways, "What I earn is for you to spend, right? If you don’t, who will?"
"Is all this money really for me to spend?" Bella glanced at him.
"Of course, I also have to honor my parents and elder relatives, but they don’t seem to know how to spend their own money, so they shouldn’t need mine," Damian replied, "So you’re the only one."
Bella laughed happily, "Alright then, since you’re talking sweetly, I’ll reluctantly accept the card. What’s the password?"
"Both our birthdays," Damian said, "When you go shopping, if Bella wants to buy something, use this card too; she doesn’t have a job herself now, so no specific income."
"Got it," Bella sweetly tucked the gold card into her wallet, "When you drop me off at the food court later, I’ll call Bella to meet me there."
