Chapter 426 - 425: Empty and Restless Inside
Bella returned to the orphanage.
Aunt Sienna noticed her pale complexion, poured her a glass of hot water, and asked, "Bella, what’s wrong? Are you not feeling well somewhere?"
Bella shook her head, "Aunt Sienna, do you know what my parents used to do for a living?"
Aunt Sienna thought for a moment and said, "I’m not sure about the specifics, but I heard your dad was a businessman. Apparently, he committed suicide because of some business troubles."
"Suicide?" Bella was taken aback, "And my mom? Was it the same for her?"
"Probably," Aunt Sienna said, "Why are you suddenly asking about this? Did you hear something outside?"
"I went to see Damian’s mom today." Bella paused, holding her water cup, before continuing, "She was very warm at first, but after seeing my parents’ photos, her attitude changed completely. I think she knew my parents and there is some unresolved issue between them."
"An unresolved issue between your parents and the Sinclair Family?" Aunt Sienna frowned, deep in thought, and said, "I really don’t know, we haven’t heard about it before."
"I see." Bella responded absentmindedly, taking out her phone from her bag.
The signal was full, and the battery was at eighty percent, but there were no calls or messages.
Is Damian explaining things to Mrs. Sinclair? Would she scold him for this?
Bella felt anxious but knew she could only wait obediently for a call. She couldn’t call him, fearing she might interrupt Mrs. Sinclair and Damian’s conversation, only adding fuel to the fire.
Damian doesn’t use WeChat or QQ, should she send a text message instead?
Bella bit her lip and finally decided to send a text message first.
She was so concerned that even if Damian didn’t say much in his reply, even just a "hmm," she’d feel more at ease.
Bella put down the teacup, held her phone with both hands, and started typing a message.
"Damian, don’t argue with Mrs. Sinclair because of me. They’re surely doing it for your own good. If she doesn’t want us to meet, then let’s not see each other for now. Anyway, I’ll be going for training in a couple of days, and I have other work ahead, so I’ll be quite busy. Don’t worry about me, I’m fine and you don’t have to worry..." Bella quickly typed a bunch of words, read it twice herself, then silently deleted it all, and only sent two words, "Miss you."
She didn’t even know why she was being disliked, her heart filled with anxiety and restlessness, yearning to see Damian immediately, to throw herself into his arms, and hold him tightly. Only then could she ease her confusion and quiet her unsettled heart.
After sending the text, Bella held onto her phone, waiting for Damian’s response.
Aunt Sienna felt sorry seeing her like this, "Bella, their family looks down on us, and we don’t need them either. With things as they are now, imagine the grievances you’d suffer if you married into that family. We don’t need to cling to this high branch, let’s just forget it, alright?"
Bella was taken aback by her words, subconsciously gripping her phone tightly, and after a moment, she said, "Aunt Sienna, I just think about never seeing Damian again and my heart feels both panicked and empty. If I really had to leave him, I..."
"Alright, alright," Aunt Sienna couldn’t bear to let her continue, "Mr. Sinclair really cares about you, that much I can see. Well, let’s just wait and see."
"Okay." Bella looked up, her eyes already red.
