Chapter 400 - 399: Is This a Proposal in Disguise?
Damian Sinclair corrected himself, "Wait, are you indirectly proposing to me?"
"N-no way!" Bella Acker immediately denied it, giving him a glare and muttering softly, "If anyone’s proposing, it should be you to me."
"So if I propose to you, does that mean you’ll say yes?" Damian raised an eyebrow.
"That depends on how you behave," Bella blushed and whispered, "If you don’t behave well, I’m not marrying you."
Although she said that, she knew in her heart that if Damian proposed, she wouldn’t hesitate to nod and agree.
Bella thought to herself, calling herself useless, yet she eagerly anticipated whether Damian would propose to her and when.
Thinking about it, she started smiling foolishly.
Damian placed some fish in her bowl, "Stop grinning foolishly and eat your food."
Bella pouted at him, "Grinning isn’t a crime."
"But it leads to crime."
"What?" Bella didn’t quite catch that last part as she focused on eating the fish.
"Eat up, and I’ll tell you the secret to not gaining weight afterward," Damian said as he added a meatball to her bowl.
If he hadn’t promised not to interfere with her work affairs, he wouldn’t have agreed to her diet.
She already had a small frame, looking petite. Now that she’s lost weight, she looks even more like a middle schooler.
During her dieting period, Bella had her meals controlled, especially in the evenings, and hadn’t had such a satisfying meaty meal in a long time.
Feeling blissfully full with a round stomach, Bella finally sighed contentedly, put down her chopsticks, and rubbed her stomach, "I think I ate too much."
Damian looked at her sprawled out on the chair and chuckled, "Let’s go for a walk to digest later." Otherwise, just sitting or sleeping after eating so much isn’t good for health.
"But I’m too full to move," Bella said, rubbing her stomach and looking up at him, "Damian, what’s that method you mentioned for eating without gaining weight? Can you tell me now?"
"You’re too full now; even if I told you, you couldn’t do it. I’ll tell you after we walk it off," Damian said as he cleared the table.
Bella pouted, "Making it so mysterious." She stood up to help clear the dishes.
The two of them cleaned up the dining table, and the dishes that needed washing were placed in the sink. Bella rolled up her sleeves and said, "Damian, you wipe the table, I’ll wash the dishes. This way, we can split the chores— you cook, I wash the dishes."
Damian handed her some dishwashing gloves, "Wear these."
Bella held out her hands to him with a smile, "Put them on for me."
Damian looked at her, "If I got down on one knee and said some vows, wouldn’t it be like a proposal?"
"In your dreams, nothing is that easy," Bella blushed slightly, extending her hands out to him.
Damian, his eyes full of amusement, put the gloves on her, "I’ll take care of the trash. Once you’re done, put on a coat and wait for me at the door."
"Okay," Bella giggled, "Damian, after our walk to digest, can I have an ice cream?"
"No," Damian denied her without hesitation and left the kitchen.
Bella pouted and murmured, "My stomach’s strong, I wouldn’t get a stomachache." But the man tidying up outside had a heart as hard as iron; once he said no, it meant no.
