Chapter 359 - 358: Vivian Norris Is Replaced
Bella Acker heard Sharon Cheney’s voice, and finally regained some clarity.
On the other end of the call, Sharon said, "It’s nothing particularly surprising; everything was expected. The production team decided to replace Vivian Norris with Sue Blaine, who just won the Best Actress Award this year, to play the lead role of Luna. She joined the team at noon today and immediately started filming in the afternoon. All our scenes with the lead actress need to be reshot, so once you return, it’ll be overtime again."
"Overtime isn’t really a big deal for me," Bella replied. "Godmother, did Vivian Norris’s company agree to terminate the contract so easily?"
"After all the things Vivian had done in the past were dug up, what choice did they have?" Sharon sneered. "The most ironic part is that in an effort to prove her innocence, Vivian’s fans scoured every possible channel for evidence on her behalf, only to uncover even more dirt on her. Now, it’s all over the internet, and even her staunch supporters are expressing their disappointment."
"I’m afraid those fans have been hit hard," Bella said. "They trusted Vivian so much that even when dirt surfaced online, they still backed her. The stronger their belief was, the deeper their disappointment is now."
"That’s right," Sharon said. "I’ve heard that Vivian’s work has been completely halted, and her company is doing crisis management for her. But even if this turmoil dies down, she’s essentially finished in the entertainment industry."
No more fans will pay the bill, and which show will invite her?
Dramas and movies that rely on ratings and reputation naturally won’t send her scripts.
Even if she manages to get work in the future, it will likely be smaller commercial performances.
Over time, her fame will diminish, and becoming a minor star is just a matter of time.
But all this is self-inflicted.
Previously, Bella had held back several times to avoid making things ugly for everyone.
Yet Vivian wouldn’t stop, forcing Bella to a dead end, so she had no choice but to fight back.
Moreover, Vivian’s greatest mistake was underestimating Archer Quinn’s feelings for Bella. Had she known Archer cared so much about Bella, she might not have photoshopped those movie stills and posted them online.
However, what’s done is done, and there’s no remedy for regret in this world. Everyone must be prepared to pay the price for their actions.
Having finally resolved the crisis with Vivian, Bella felt no relief, only a touch of sadness.
This truly is a harsh circle; even with the connections and resources of a top actress, what does it amount to?
The mere pressure of public opinion can completely crush a person. And those so-called friends who usually surround you might even hesitate to show sympathy online, fearing they’ll be implicated.
This time it was Vivian; who knows if the next time it will be her?
Such thoughts made Bella shudder.
She entered this circle never seeking fame. She only wanted to make money and had an interest in acting.
But now it seems that once you step into this world, many things are beyond your control.
Sharon didn’t hear her reply, and questioned with a hint of puzzlement: "Bella?"
Bella snapped back to reality, "Godmother, I’m here."
"After going through this, do you find the entertainment industry harsh?" Sharon asked.
