Chapter 438: Sensors
Chapter 438: Sensors
The moment Stefan stepped out, Genevieve pulled the sheets over herself and immediately squeezed her eyes shut dramatically.
Pretending to sleep.
A smile tugged at her lips as she waited.
A few minutes later, Stefan returned with the items to clean the mess on the floor.
The room was quiet when he stepped in.
Genevieve remained still beneath the sheets.
Stefan grinned at her ’sleeping’ figure briefly before walking toward the shattered glass on the floor.
Carefully, he crouched down and began clearing the broken pieces. Stefan checked the floor carefully after sweeping the pieces away to make sure no tiny shards remained.
Genevieve peeked at him slightly through her lashes. Her chest warmed at the sight. He looked exhausted. But he was still worrying about her first.
Only after he was satisfied did he finally leave the room again.
Genevieve smiled against the pillow.
Not long after, the door opened once more. This time Stefan entered carrying a breakfast tray.
The smell of pancakes, eggs, coffee, and fruits filled the room immediately.
Genevieve almost opened her eyes right away.
Almost.
Stefan placed the tray carefully on the bedside table before sitting beside her quietly.
For a second, he just looked at her. His chest tightened with love for her.
Genevieve tried hard to hold back her smile as Stefan gently brushed some hair away from her face.
Then he leaned down and kissed her forehead softly. Another kiss landed on her cheek. Then her nose. Then the corner of her lips.
Genevieve giggled before her eyes even opened.
Stefan chuckled quietly against her skin and continued raining soft kisses over her face.
Finally, she opened her eyes slowly with a fake yawn.
"Good morning," she murmured softly.
Something warm spread through Stefan’s chest immediately. "Morning."
Genevieve stretched slightly beneath the sheets before sitting up slowly.
The blanket slipped lower, revealing her bare body beneath it, but she didn’t seem uncomfortable at all.
Her gaze landed on the tray immediately.
"Oh," she said with false surprise. "You made breakfast?"
Stefan nodded once, playing along.
Genevieve blinked at the tray before looking back at him suspiciously.
"How did you know I was hungry?"
Stefan smirked faintly. "I have sensors attuned to you."
Genevieve burst into laughter. "That sounds creepy."
"It’s romantic actually. Romantically creepy."
She laughed again before pushing the sheets aside completely and standing from the bed. "I’d like to freshen up before eating."
Stefan’s eyes followed her instantly.
Hungrily.
Genevieve noticed immediately.
A mischievous smile curved her lips as she met his gaze.
"Do you want to shower with me?"
Stefan smirked as he stood immediately. "I thought you’d never ask."
Genevieve giggled.
By the time she reached the bathroom door, Stefan was already pulling his shirt over his head.
She looked over her shoulder in amusement. "You wasted no time."
"I’m a very serious man."
She burst into laughter again as he followed her into the bathroom.
Soon warm water poured down over both of them beneath the shower.
Steam slowly filled the bathroom.
Genevieve rested against the tiled wall while Stefan kissed her slowly beneath the running water.
His hands moved gently over her wet skin. And Genevieve wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back softly.
The kiss deepened until the soft sounds of water and quiet breaths filled the bathroom.
Stefan held her close beneath the shower as he made love to her slowly.
There was no rush or desperation. Just love.
Much later, they finally returned to the bed wrapped loosely in towels.
Genevieve laughed breathlessly as she reached for a strawberry from the tray.
"I really hope Jamal didn’t hear me earlier," she muttered with embarrassment.
Stefan chuckled as he leaned back against the headboard beside her.
"Jamal already left."
Her eyes widened slightly. "Really?"
He nodded. "We’re alone in the house now."
"Oh thank God," she sighed dramatically before laughing.
Stefan laughed too.
Genevieve picked up a fork and pointed it toward him suspiciously.
"You know," she said thoughtfully, "for someone who seemed pretty reserved when I first met him, you’re keeping up with my sexual energy surprisingly well."
Stefan almost choked on his coffee.
Genevieve burst into laughter.
He narrowed his eyes slightly at her. "Keeping up isn’t the issue."
"Oh?"
"The issue right now is that I can’t get enough of you."
Heat spread warmly through Genevieve but she giggled loudly.
Stefan’s chest tightened at the sound of her laughter. He loved hearing her laugh.
She cut a piece of pancake and held it toward him. "Open your mouth."
Stefan obeyed easily.
Genevieve smiled as she fed him while sitting cross-legged beside him on the bed.
Stefan watched her quietly for a while, taking note of the bright smile on her face.
She looked happier now than he had ever seen her.
"You’re smiling and laughing more today," he observed softly. "You look really happy."
Genevieve looked down briefly before smiling again.
"I am happy. I’m just really happy to be alive," she admitted quietly as her eyes lifted to his. "And to have a chance to be with you like this."Then her smile faded slightly afterward. "I know I probably shouldn’t be this happy considering someone else died instead of me—"
"Hey," Stefan cut in immediately. "Don’t think about that. You’re alive," Stefan said gently. "Focus on that. We can’t change what happened."
Genevieve swallowed slowly before nodding.
They ate in silence for a while, then after a moment she said quietly, "I’d like to speak to Tom. I need to apologize for what happened at the hotel because of me."
Stefan nodded slowly and reached for his phone on the nightstand.
But before he could pick it up, the phone suddenly started ringing.
He glanced at the screen, then blinked in surprise as he picked it up. "It’s Tom."
Genevieve’s face lit up instantly. "Give me!"
Stefan let her grab the phone quickly from him.
"Put it on speaker," he said immediately.
"No," she refused at once.
She didn’t want Stefan to hear whatever Tom would say to her in case he responded harshly.
Stefan narrowed his eyes suspiciously while she answered the call.
